Select desired crop category by first clicking on Crop Category to expand pane. Next, select a category from drop down menu and click Continue. Only one category may be selected at a time. Changing the crop category will reset all subsequent selection bars.

Choose Crop Type

Select desired crop type by first clicking on Crop Type to expand pane. Next, select a category from the drop down menu and click Continue. Only one crop type may be selected at a time. Changing the crop type will reset all subsequent selection bars.

Choose Crop Sub-Type

Choose Report Type

Select the desired report by clicking either Variety Characteristics or Yield Comparison

The Variety Characteristics report is used to generate an overall performance summary using all data available for selected varieties. This report includes important information on diseases resistance, general agronomic performance, seed distributor, and overall yield performance. This report is excellent for introducing yourself to new varieties or getting re-familiarized with the general performance of older varieties.

IMPORTANT: Although multiple varieties may be selected for reporting efficiency sake caution must be practiced when comparing relative yield performance between multiple varieties. This is because the number of locations and years used to compare each variety with the common check may differ, thus making the comparison unbalanced and potentially biased.
The Yield Comparison report allows direct yield comparisons between a selected check variety and another chosen variety.

IMPORTANT: Users are restricted to only one variety to maximize the number of locations and years in common with the selected check and therefore provide the most complete and reliable information for comparison.

Choose Locations

Select/Unselect desired locations by clicking in check box beside location name – selected locations will be identified on the Map to the right of the location list. Use the (+) and (-) buttons or the scroll button on your mouse to zoom in and out of the map. Change map view using the drop down menu in the top right corner of the map. Click Continue when finished selecting all desired locations. Only data (from all available years) from selected locations will be included in the Yield Comparison report.

IMPORTANT: Selecting more locations is always better as this permits a better estimate of average performance for the selected area. The varieties available for the Yield Comparison report are dependent on the locations selected.

CAUTION: Selecting fewer locations may limit the number of varieties available since varieties have not all been grown at all locations throughout the years.

Choose Check Variety

There are two panes of different variety classifications to choose from: click the pane to expand and select desired variety. Select one variety to use as a comparison standard by clicking the radio button beside the variety name.

Most Commonly Grown

Varieties most commonly grown (by acres) in Manitoba during last three years. These varieties represent the majority of acres for this crop in Manitoba.

Current and News

These are varieties that are relatively new and growing in demand (Bolded Varieties), have been just registered or in the final stages of registration (*), or were at one point among the most commonly grown but have fallen in popularity.

New Varieties

These varieties have just been registered or are in the final stages of registration and are currently being increased for commercial production. Seed availability will be limited.
